When it helps
Copying from a PDF is often awkward or blocked. Extracting the text gives you a clean copy to reuse in a document, an email, or a search.
Common questions
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
Not yet. A scanned page is an image with no text layer, so there is nothing to copy out. An image-to-text (OCR) tool is on the way.
What do I get back?
The text shown on screen to copy, plus a .txt download. A very long document comes back as a .txt file to download.
Is my file kept private?
We use it only to read out your text. The result is removed after 6 hours, and it isn't shared with anyone else.
