When it helps

Invoices and quotations need the tax calculated exactly, and some invoices were issued at the old 5% rate, or before VAT existed at all. Hand calculation invites rounding mistakes, and this tool keeps the net, the VAT and the gross consistent, because the gross is the rounded net plus the rounded VAT.

Common questions

Why are there historical rates?

Saudi VAT started in January 2018 at 5% and rose to 15% from July 2020; before 2018 there was none. An older invoice uses the rate in force when it was issued, so the tool carries all three - 15%, 5% and zero - plus a custom rate.

How are amounts rounded?

Amounts round to the nearest halala, and the gross is the rounded net plus the rounded VAT, so the two parts and the total always agree.

Can I type Arabic digits?

Yes. The box accepts Western digits 0-9, Arabic-Indic digits ‎٠‎-‎٩‎, the Arabic decimal separator, and thousands separators.

Does the calculator replace a VAT return?

No. The tool only does the arithmetic. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) remains the reference for rulings and filing.
