Word counter
Count the words, characters, and sentences in your text.
Runs on your device. What you enter is never sent to us
You see characters with and without spaces, words, sentences, paragraphs and a rough reading time, all updating as you type.
How to use it
- 1Type or pasteType straight into the box, or paste text you copied from somewhere else.
- 2Watch the resultThe result changes with every character, so there is no run button and nothing to wait for.
- 3Copy what you wantCopy the result and move it into your message or your document.
When it helps
Applications, job forms, and school assignments often set a word or character limit. Counting before you submit tells you whether the text fits the limit and how long it takes to read.
Common questions
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The counting happens entirely in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored, or shared.
Does it work with Arabic text?
Yes. It counts Arabic, English, and text that mixes both. Words are split on spaces, and the Arabic question mark (؟) ends a sentence just like ? does.
How is the reading time calculated?
We assume a reading speed of about 200 words per minute and round up to the next whole minute.
How do you count sentences and paragraphs?
A sentence ends with a full stop, an exclamation or question mark (including ؟), or an ellipsis. A new paragraph starts where a blank line separates two blocks of text.
